Welcome to Natural Therapy Clinic

Acupuncture has been helping the sick for thousands of years and in the hands of a skilful physician is as useful today as it ever was. We use this therapy method (like all our therapies) when it is felt that it will be of special benefit to you.

For complete hygiene we only use sterile, single use disposable needles. We also choose only to use the finest gauge needles so that the patient is barely aware of the needles being introduced.

ACUPUNCTURE points can also be stimulated by laser or magnets in place of needles. Stubborn problems are treated using the specialised Ryodoraku treatment technique. Here's more information on Acupuncture and Ryodoraku ...

Medical Science Accepts That Acupuncture Works...But HOW?

Introducing an acupuncture needle into one of the body's acupuncture points (or treating that point with an Infra Red Laser) has a profound effect on both the body and the mind.

Experiments with acupuncture show that treatment is followed by changes in the levels of key hormones in the body such as corticosteroids, human growth hormones, oestrogens and progesterones.

Acupuncture affects the immune system, causing positive changes in the antibody levels and in white cell numbers. Effects on the nervous system and on chemicals which influence the nervous system have also been identified. Endorphin levels rise immediately for example.

Acupuncture treatment has many effects on the body. It positively influences the voluntary muscles, removing spasms in the head, neck and shoulders, easing tension. It also has an effect on involuntary muscles in arteries increasing muscle tone, and has powerful anti-inflammatory properties.

And of course, Acupuncture is well known for its anaesthetic qualities. I have seen major operations performed only with acupuncture anaesthesia where the patient has been conscious throughout. An additional benefit is that patients do not bleed nearly as heavily as with conventional anaesthesia.

Acupuncture also controls the overall function of tissues. Patients experience a sense of calmness, sleep better, and have an improved sense of general well-being. Put simply, acupuncture, used properly, is a powerful tool.

Most patients will notice an improvement within 4-5 hours of treatment. In less sensitive people this may not happen for several days. Typically improvement will last for a short time after the first couple of sessions, and this will generally become more drawn out as treatment progresses.

Aggravation of symptoms may sometimes occur. This simply means that - for some patients (and these are very much in the minority) - your symptoms may get worse before they get better. This is nothing to worry about. It is a positive sign and improvement will always follow.

Illnesses of short duration typically take less treatments to address. Longer term problems and rebalancing tend to take longer. We usually cease treatment when symptoms subside or when an identified imbalance remedies itself. This is why we often hold your wrists during, before or after treatment. Traditional Chinese Zhang-Fu diagnosis enables us to assess the relative energy levels in each of the acupuncture channels to assess progress.

We only use single-use, sterile, stainless steel, silver handled, disposable needles in this practice. These are incinerated after use. We also use the Infra Red Laser in some of our treatments.

Laser treatment involves applying a small beam of concentrated light, to various acupuncture points on the skin. The process is painless and harmless. The light falls within the visible range of sunlight. It is a simple and painless way of stimulating the body to heal damaged or inflamed tissue quickly.

We use laser for small children, and for sensitive areas of the body such as around the eyes, in preference to needles. If you have a phobia about needles then naturally we can use laser. We do find that needles will typically produce a faster response.

When we treat you, we will usually stimulate certain needles - in China this is classically done by plunging the needle in and out or by twisting back and forth. We use an electrical stimulator - a much more comfortable and less traumatic option, and something the Chinese have recently copied from us!

We also sometimes (especially for neck, back and shoulder problems) introduce homoeopathic remedies at the acupuncture points during treatment. This is called homoeopuncture, and especially effective.

Acupuncture typically works best in conjunction with herbal and homoeopathic medicine.

HOW AM I REALLY?

How can YOU tell?
And just how do you do it?

Here at Natural Therapy Clinic we use some brilliant new technology based on proven ancient techniques - used for centuries in Japan and China.

Ryodoraku is a valuable diagnostic tool which enables preventive medicine to be practiced. Ryodoraku is based on the principle of early diagnosis and treatment.

Early diagnosis means finding a problem while it is at its early stages of a functional/energic imbalance - well before it has time to cause serious physiological or pathological changes.

Early diagnosis and preventative medicine are not really possible until the electro-magnetic energy field and the electrical energy pathways of the body are tapped for information.

The body is an electrically controlled system rather than a chemically controlled one. Chemistry does of course play a vital role in the physiology of the body but it does so by acting through the neurological system which is largely electrical in nature.

The electrodermal diagnosis of the human body based on testing the electrical state of the acupuncture points is a much faster, cheaper, and arguably more accurate early method of body diagnosis than most available analytic methods.

Much research has been performed, initially in Japan immediately following the Second World War, and later in Germany, Australia and other Western countries to provide the mapping transforms between the electrical information provided by Ryodoraku diagnosis and the patterns associated with various medical syndromes, signs, symptoms and diseases.

Major research began in 1951 and has continued until the present day. The recent introduction of advanced computer technology into the diagnostic system has further enhanced the reliability and ease of diagnosis and has greatly increased the efficacy of treatment. Through these remarkable advances in diagnosis, diseases can be treated at the electrical imbalance stage rather than after cellular changes have taken place.

Most people are amazed how accurately Ryodoraku identifies their current symptoms and matches them to imbalances in their systems. They are amazed and happy to find that these symptoms disappear as quickly as these imbalances are treated. Ryodoraku provides graphic evidence that such imbalances have been effectively dealt with.

Diagnosis and Treatment the Ryodoraku way

For Ryodoraku diagnosis, the patient is placed in a very low electrical circuit with a computerised testing instrument. No electrical or other unpleasant sensation is felt by the patient.

A probe which is also in the electrical circuit with the patient is used to measure a series of 24 acupuncture points on the hands and the feet. Through these points the channels and organs of the body which have neurological connections with the points tested, can be evaluated for electrical imbalances.

An electrical imbalance is a sign of disease or a pre-disease condition. The pre-disease state (asymptomatic) is an early stage and can usually be quickly reversed.

In addition to the above, a full naturopathic, homeopathic, or classical Chinese diagnosis is usually made in conjunction with iris diagnosis.

Please note that the above analysis does not necessarily conform to conventional Western medical understanding. The imbalances referred to here are not always recognised by conventional medical terms.

All diagnosis and treatment is based entirely on natural medicine and upon time honoured European Naturopathic, Homeopathic, or Chinese and Japanese medical principles.
